Some years ago I lived 5 minutes away from my best friend. During Covid-19 restrictions and limited distances allowed for evening walks, we found sanctuary in eachothers bedrooms, discovering oatmilk flat whites, watching Sex and the City while eating unhealthy amounts of treats and sharing stories about the year we had both just spent in different countries away from Ireland. Both outsiders in Dublin, from the countryside, our naivety connected us, making this coincidence of neighbouring in the big city something seeped in comfort. Before Adam left again for London, we wanted to honour the joy we found in this proximity through a collaborative textile project, designed, made and documented together. The fully tufted outfit is made up of a jacket featuring a double portrait of me and Adam. A skirt depicting two hands almost touching, a reference to 'The Creation of Adam', by Michelangelo. Legwarmers, a top, and a hat.
